About
It all started in the wonderous year of 1979. Snow fell in the Sahara, Saddam Hussein took over Iraq, and the 1st ever Sony Walkman hit the streets. And in 2 far away cities, 2 couples embarked on parallel journeys that would one day change the face of the world. Only an astonishing 6 weeks from each other, the Marwahs and Pattersons each bonded in love to create the 2 future hopeful “E True Hollywood Story” members of the Aesthetics Crew. It took 20 years before Aidge and Indy would cross paths, but it was those years and experiences that made the partnership possible.

Flash to 1993. Pico Rivera, Los Angeles. A young Rahul gets his hands on his first set of turntables, straight from the Pico Rivera Swap Meet on Slauson. Across the country in Washington DC, Luke and his friends start the FBI Crew, spawning his first feeble attempts at graffiti. Also Luke’s last year in DC, as ’94 saw his historic move to the West Coast… Hollywood, CA.

1999, Hedrick dining hall, UCLA. Luke, in full “Aidger” mode sees Rahul lookin’ all hip-hop n’ shit, and hits him up like “yo, you write?” They met again during the blur of spring quarter parties and started running in the same circles. Numerous blurry memories later, Rahul started making beats on his computer, threw a sock on a microphone and started recording songs in his bedroom with the homies. Luke was one of the homies. Word.

2002, Aidge and Indy release their first EP Hey Man, You Gonna Eat That?! on a severely limited run. Like seriously, if you got a copy you were either the homie or a damn dedicated hip-hop kid. In 2 months time, the Aesthetic Appeal 12” Single made it from the West Coast to the Far East. Later that year, the A’s Crew’s debut video Doin’ It Still received a crapload of attention including The Hip-Hop Show‘s “Underground Pick of the Week,” and the buzz was set…

Time past and paying the bills put the music on a slow grind for a while, but it was never out of the picture. Aesthetics Crew teamed up with DJ Props, stayed on the scene dropping their 2nd EP Project: Suspenders and 2nd 12” Single Funk Bros, slapping up stickers, rocking shows in every nook and cranny of the city, all the while quietly trying to finish their 1st full length album.

2008 saw the Aesthetics Crew jump straight back in the mix like Cheez-Itz. The Pandora’s Boombox album finally hit the streets, while the lead video The City Beat started making waves again for the duo on computer screens worldwide.

Since then has been a time of constant grinding! Rocking shows across the land from Pasadena to Beijing. Heavy duty studio work for a variety of upcoming projects, hip-hop, funk, rock, you name it. Trying to figure out how to edit videos and crap themselves so they can speak to you directly. Ya know, trying to be all they can be without joining the army.

The mixed experiences of the duo have resulted a sound raw enough for the streets, smart enough for the geeks, and fonky enough to keep the people moving any time any place. A lot of things have changed in the last 3 decades, including Aidge and Indy, but one thing that hasn’t is their dedication to quality and constant progression of their sound. Keep your eyes peeled for the Aesthetics Crew, you never know when they’ll be rocking a show in your city, dropping thru to party it up and cover the area in slaps, or causing it to snow once again in the Sahara…
